Dublin Bus Drivers Split £20 Million EuroMillions Jackpot

A 22-strong workplace syndicate of Dublin bus drivers scooped a £20 million EuroMillions jackpot on 1st July 2016. Having matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars on the Friday, speculation as to the identity of the winners spread across the weekend and, when they failed to turn up for work on the Monday, it was all but confirmed.

One of their number had already retired, but the rest of the syndicate returned to their jobs the next day and their employer, Dublin Bus, even laid on a special double decker to take them to lottery headquarters to pick up their winnings later that week.

Between the 21 drivers and an inspector they said they would be using their cash to travel, pay off mortgages and buy new cars and one of the group, Craig Shearer, told the press he felt like he was winning the lottery for the second time, having overcome leukaemia two years previously.
